However, a third of local authorities are still not making any provisions.
According to a survey by consultants Knight Frank and Irwin Mitchell, there has been an increase in the number of councils starting to plan to house older people in our communities.
Even though improvement has been made, the survey found that more than a third of local authorities are still not making plan’s regarding new housing for older people as part of their long-term plans.
It is reported that by 2030 the number of people in the UK of pensionable age will have increased by 1.3 million. The number of over 85s is expected to have nearly doubled by 2045.
